De vraag beoogt projecten in kaart te brengen die blijvende betrokkenheid bij Oekraïne ondersteunen, waaronder informatievoorziening om weloverwogen beslissingen over eventuele terugkeer mogelijk te maken. It examines whether changes were applied retroactively and whether different levels of support persist across groups. Four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, Belgium has granted more than 101.500 temporary protection certificates to people fleeing the conflict. Today, around 70.600 of these displaced Ukrainians remain in the country. While the temporary protection scheme has been extended until March 2027, uncertainty remains over what will happen afterwards, raising questions for both the authorities and Ukrainian beneficiaries.

On 19 February 2026, EMN Belgium attended a Mutual Learning Seminar organised by ECRE (European Council on Refugees and Exiles) within the framework of the INNOVATE project, supported by EU funding under the Horizon 2020 programme.Held in Brussels, the seminar brought together experts, civil society representatives and policymakers to assess the state of preparedness across EU Member States for transitioning out of temporary protection under the Temporary Protection Directive, currently extended until March 2027.

The Fedasil Info Point in Brussels has been supporting asylum seekers and other migrants for two years, providing accessible and centralised information in one location. Since reopening on 27 September 2023 at the former Bordet Hospital site, it has welcomed over 22.000 visitors, mostly single men with ongoing asylum procedures. Visitors most frequently ask about accommodation, medical care, legal support, and other practical matters. Partners such as Caritas International and the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) assist in providing guidance and support.

Op 4 juni 2025 heeft de Europese Commissie voorgesteld om de tijdelijke bescherming voor ontheemden die vluchten voor het conflict in Oekraïne te verlengen tot 4 maart 2027. Met dit voorstel wil de Commissie juridische zekerheid bieden aan de begunstigden en de lidstaten door een consistent beschermingsniveau in de hele Europese Unie te behouden. Daarnaast stelde de Commissie een pakket maatregelen voor om een gecoördineerde overgang uit de tijdelijke bescherming te faciliteren.

The European Commission has approved an additional €3 billion in funding to assist Member States in implementing the Pact on Migration and Asylum and to support the hosting of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine. This amount is composed of €1.8 billion from the revision of the current Multiannual Financial Framework and a €1.2 billion top-up to the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI).
