European Commission grants additional €3 billion to Member States for implementing the Migration Pact and hosting Ukrainian nationals
The European Commission has approved an additional €3 billion in funding to assist Member States in implementing the Pact on Migration and Asylum and to support the hosting of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine. This amount is composed of €1.8 billion from the revision of the current Multiannual Financial Framework and a €1.2 billion top-up to the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI).
This new funding supplements nearly €11 billion already allocated for migration and border management for the period 2025-2027, as well as €450 million provided since 2022 to support Member States hosting beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine.
Member States will receive specific allocations based on eligibility criteria and must update their national programmes by the end of 2025 to incorporate the additional resources. The Commission is maintaining close contact with Member States to provide the necessary support. This funding will be available until the end of 2027 to support both the Pact’s implementation and the reception of people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
