De lijst van veilige landen wordt elk jaar herzien. Op 7 april 2023 gebeurde de laatste update. De aangepaste lijst is nu gepubliceerd in het Belgisch Staatsblad. Volgens deze lijst worden de volgende landen als veilig bestempeld: Albanië, Bosnië-Herzegovina, Noord-Macedonië, Kosovo, Montenegro, Servië en India.

In its judgments in cases C-8/22, C-663/21 and C-402/22, the Court clarified the conditions for revoking or refusing refugee status with regard to a third-country national who is convicted of a crime. The individual concerned must, inter alia, constitute a genuine, present and sufficiently serious threat to one of the fundamental interests of society and the decision must observe the principle of proportionality.

Het CGVS heeft zijn jaarverslag 2020 gepubliceerd. Het jaarverslag bevat een compleet overzicht van de asielcijfers van 2020. Verder focust het rapport onder andere op de impact van COVID-19, op de werking van het CGVS en op de internationale asielcontext.
Het jaarverslag is beschikbaar in het Nederlands en Frans in een online versie en in PDF formaat.

Omwille van de COVID-19-pandemie werden in maart de persoonlijke gehoren met verzoekers om internationale bescherming bij het CGVS stopgezet. In juni zijn ze heropgestart. Om de veiligheid van personeel en verzoekers te garanderen, is er een video met praktische instructies gemaakt.
