This ad hoc query offers comparative information on forecasting methods of future migration trends. It examines EMN Member and Observer Countries’ methods or models used for predicting and analysing future migration trends and developments, the data sources used to feed these models, the time horizon of predictions, the institutions conducting and using the analyses, and whether or not results are made public.

The Directorate-General for Foreign Nationals in France of the Ministry of the Interior, together with EMN France and EMN Luxembourg, organise the 4th Workshop on Forecasting and New Technologies in Migration and Asylum Governance. It will gather representatives of EU agencies, international organisations, national authorities and academia. Participants will exchange on current practices, new developments and future directions in this field.

This capacity-building workshop, organised jointly by EMN Luxembourg and the Prague Process, aims to explore the current state of forecasting migration and asylum flows, address existing challenges, and consider the future of forecasting in migration management. Additionally, the workshop will showcase the latest technological advancements in migration, asylum, and data-driven societies and discuss prospects for their implementation in national and regional contexts.

This capacity-building workshop will bring together representatives of international organisations, EU agencies, Member States, and academia to provide opportunities for exchanges and discussions on the current state of forecasting models in migration, and to present any ongoing projects or initiatives related to the use of technologies in migration and asylum governance.
