Workshop: Forecasting and New Technologies in Migration and Asylum Governance: State of Play and New Developments

The Directorate-General for Foreign Nationals in France of the Ministry of the Interior, together with EMN France and EMN Luxembourg, organise the 4th Workshop on Forecasting and New Technologies in Migration and Asylum Governance. It will gather representatives of EU agencies, international organisations, national authorities and academia. Participants will exchange on current practices, new developments and future directions in this field.

What

Now in its fourth edition, this workshop is part of a recurring series launched by EMN Luxembourg in 2021, focusing on the role of forecasting and new technologies in migration and asylum governance. Each year, it brings together a wide range of stakeholders — including EU agencies, national authorities, international organisations, researchers and academics — to explore emerging trends, share knowledge and exchange on the challenges and opportunities that innovation brings to this complex policy area.

The 2025 edition, co-organised by EMN France and EMN Luxembourg, will feature three thematic panels:

  • New technologies and Communication in Migration Management (Institutional and State Perspectives)
  • New Technologies, Digitalisation and Use of Artificial Intelligence in Migration Management (Institutional and State Perspectives)
  • New Technologies, Digitalisation and Use of Artificial Intelligence in Migration Management (Academic Perspectives)

Each session will include moderated discussions and interactive Q&A opportunities to encourage dialogue among participants.
