How can countries and people better benefit from migration? How can refugees be protected, and their means of livelihood secured? How should the world deal with changes in global demographics? These issues are addressed in the World Bank's World Development Report 2023.

The EMN Austria Conference is dedicated to exploring how to build orderly migration systems through international cooperation and innovation. Participants will examine effective partnership models, innovative solutions, and the importance of dialogue and exchange between the EU, its Member States, third countries, and other key actors such as international organisations in shaping regular migration.

The European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) will host its first State of Asylum Conference, bringing together policymakers, EU institutions, international organisations, and experts to discuss the current landscape of international protection and migration in the EU, the challenges faced, and the evolving EU migration agenda, particularly with regard to the Pact on Migration and Asylum.

This event aims to help migration policymakers and practitioners better understand the potential of AI applications as well as the regulatory framework of the AI Act and its impact on the use of AI in migration management, and to discuss the impact of AI on policymaking.

On 2 May 2024, President von der Leyen was with Cypriot President Christodoulides in Beirut to announce a financial package of EUR 1 billion for Lebanon to contribute to the country's socio-economic stability and to migration management. The deal has already received criticism from various quarters.

EMN Georgia and EMN Cyprus organise a joint conference on information campaigns which constitute a central element of current migration strategies, both at the national and European levels. 

This morning, EMN Belgium participated in a roundtable, moderated by Special Envoy on Migration and Asylum Lieven De la Marche, with the contribution of representatives of the cabinet of the Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, the Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) and the coalition for international solidarity (11.11.11). Belgian actors could share their views on the report which was presented to them.

This new course aims to help participants learn about the EU legislative framework and upcoming policy reforms in the migration and asylum fields.

On 20 March, the fifth lecture of the IES Series will focus on EU anti-discrimination policies. The question is" Did it reduce ethnic discrimination in the Member States?"
