This joint EMN-OECD Inform presents an overview of the different approaches to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and subsequent adaptation of migration strategies in EMN Member and Observer Countries and non-EU OECD Countries. The Inform also provides some examples of common challenges and good practices in developing and implementing migration strategies.

This ad hoc query seeks to map the processes in place across EMN Member and Observer Countries to conduct systematic post-decision monitoring of residence permits; in other words, to check whether residence permit holders still fulfill the criteria of their residence permits.

In its overview of national forced return monitoring systems across the EU in 2023, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) noted that only one EU Member State did not monitor its national forced return operations in 2023. It also highlighted persistent challenges that affect the transparency and effectiveness of monitoring operations.

Today, the European Migration Network (EMN) Belgium was invited to present the results of an upcoming publication to members of the Flemish Agency for Internal Affairs as well as to take part in a coordination meeting between the four integration contact points in Belgium (for Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels, and the German-speaking community).
