On 12 September 2023, the Flemish Agency for Internal Affairs (Agentschap Binnenlands Bestuur) invited members of the European Migration Network (EMN) Belgium to take part in their monthly “lunch session” to present their work and the results of an upcoming EMN Inform on the monitoring of integration of third-country nationals.

This inform will compile information across the network in order to (1) provide an overview of current policies and practices designed to monitor the integration of third-country nationals; (2) compare national legislation aimed at monitoring the integration of third-country nationals; (3) analyse the outcomes of integration monitoring policies; and (4) provide examples of challenges and good practices from EMN Member and Observer Countries.

As the agency in charge of monitoring the integration of third-country nationals in Flanders, and as one of the respondents to this Inform from Belgium, the Flemish Agency for Internal Affairs was interested in learning more about the results that came out of this Inform from other countries in Europe. The full results of the Inform will be available in the coming weeks and published on this website.

This exchange was also an opportunity to get all four integration contact points in Belgium together to discuss coordination efforts, new developments on the Belgian integration landscape, and upcoming collaborations. EMN Belgium was happy to participate in this coordination meeting, to further consolidate its network on integration, and to contribute to a strengthened dialogue among integration instances in the country.
