Seminar: Climate Refugees
The seminar has been organized by the members of the workgroup "Migration and Development" of the "National Centre of Cooperation in Development" (CNCD 11.11.11)
In 2010, the Belgian NGO Ciré organized as member of the workgroup of the CNCD a 1st seminar about the links between climate change and migration. In the framework of the evaluation of the seminar, it appeared to be necessary to take into account the socio-economic situation of the populations concerned directly by the consequences of the climate change. It appeared to be useful as well to valorise the expertise of civil society organisations, active in the concerned regions. Therefore, in 2011 the workgroup decided to organise a 2nd seminar about the subject.
The objectives of this seminar
- To gain on the base of different case studies (Tuvalu, Mali, Peru, Asia, the Netherlands) a global vision on the socio-economical and political challenges for the concerned population.
- To elaborate inputs for political recommendations and for the “Climate-Justice” campaign of CNCD-11.11.11 (2011-2013)
