State Secretary for Asylum and Migration orders faster processing of visa applications for people from the earthquake-affected region

People affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria who wish to travel to Belgium to receive support from their families will have their visa application handled faster.

In recent days, State Secretary for Asylum and Migration, Nicole de Moor, has received a lot of questions from Belgians who are concerned with family members in the regions affected by the earthquake. They want to accommodate relatives in their home.

The State Secretary has therefore instructed the Immigration Office to process visa applications more quickly for people from the affected regions.

In addition to family members abroad, there are also people from the affected regions who are staying in Belgium for a short time. They can submit an application to the Immigration Office to temporarily extend their stay.

Please read the press release (in Dutch) from the State Secretary here.
