State Secretary for Asylum and Migration addresses reception challenges in the Commission for Home Affairs
On 24 January 2023, the State Secretary for Asylum and Migration, Nicole De Moor, attended the Commission for Home Affairs, Security, Migration and Administrative Affairs in regard to the reception challenges Belgium faces regarding applicants for international protection.
The State Secretary inter alia addressed the following points:
- The screening in the Building of the Palais des Droits to identify applicants for international protection who are entitled to a place in the reception system
- The reception of unaccompanied minors
- Measures to increase the outflow from reception centers
- Efforts to create additional reception places
