About this seminar:

The seminar will examine the importance of quality of origin information and allow participants to reflect on how to assess in a meaningful way the credibility of asylum seekers and the evidence they produce. It will provide an overview of interview techniques, in particular the do’s and don’ts of interviewing asylum seekers, including vulnerable groups. The seminar will also look into the growing role of the Court of Justice by analysing both its competences in interpreting EU secondary legislation as well as providing an overview of the Court’s judgments in relation to the Qualifications Directive. Furthermore, it will look at examples of best practices in certain Member States that involve medical, psychological and legal assistance. The session on the Dublin Regulation will consider both, the practical consequences of such decisions and the methods developed to assist the asylum seekers concerned. Finally, the presentation on the activities envisaged within the EASO will enable the participants to better understand how this might affect their daily work as well as the state of play with regard to its priorities and the starting-up phase of the Agency.
