The number of visas granted for family reunification in Belgium is increasing in 2024
According to figures released by the Immigration Office, 20.724 decisions resulted in the granting of visas for family reunification in Belgium in 2024, compared to 18.738 in 2023 and 15.901 the year before. The increase concerns several categories, in particular family reunification with a refugee or beneficiary of subsidiary protection.
The Immigration Office published the latest figures relating to visa applications and decisions in 2024. The figures show an upward trend in decisions to grant visas for family reunification reasons in Belgium. Most categories are affected to a different extent, for example:
- 4.237 positive decisions were taken on applications for family reunification visas to reunite with a foreigner authorised to stay in Belgium for an unlimited period. This category reached as much 4.143 in 2023.
- 5.714 positive decisions were taken on applications for family reunification visas to reunite with a refugee or beneficiary of subsidiary protection. This category was limited to 3.700 in 2023.
- 4.502 positive decisions were taken on applications for family reunification visas to reunite with a foreigner authorised to stay in Belgium for a limited period. This category did not exceed 4.891 in 2023.
- 6.041 positive decisions were taken on applications for family reunification visas to reunite with a Belgian citizen. This category amounted to 5.756 in 2023.
The remaining positive decisions concern the other categories of visas for family reunification, including with students.
