Lectures on "Developments in European, Belgian and Flemish Labour Migration Law" in Antwerp
On 19 November 2013, the University of Antwerp organises a day of lectures on "Developments in European, Belgian and Flemish labour migration law". The legal framework has recently been changed at European and national levels.
What?
Labour migration is high on the political and legal agenda. On the one hand, there's migration of labour, consciously attracted to fill in certain vacancies. On the other hand, labour migration is frequently abused and therefore can be a threat to economic and social order. European and Belgian governments have recently taken several initiatives to better regulate and control labour migration. Following the sixth Belgian State reform, the Regions will be partly competent to regulate labour migration.
During the day, an overview will firstly be given on the most recent changes in labour migration law. Controlling mechanisms and enforcement of the law will then be addressed; including the fight against discrimination, specific controlling measures and the sanctioning of irregular and illegal employment.
