Fedasil will offer socio-legal support to people outside the reception network

On the proposal of the Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Nicole de Moor, the Council of Ministers agreed today that people who live outside the reception network receive information and support from Fedasil. The Council of Ministers approved an action plan and funding for this purpose.

People who stay (voluntarily or not) outside the reception network form a target group that Fedasil has been trying to reach for a long time. Although they are not staying in the reception centers, these people also have needs in terms of social, legal and medical assistance. This is why Fedasil wants to use resources to better inform and support this target group.

This proposal also paves the way for regional anchoring of Fedasil services in the largest cities. The objective is to open "counters" in collaboration with five large cities (Brussels, Ghent, Charleroi, Liège and Antwerp) in order to support and inform people who are outside the reception network.

The deployment of human resources will gradually increase, and the target groups to be reached and the type of support offered will also be gradually expanded.
