Fedasil is preparing to open a reception center for unaccompanied foreign minors in Schaerbeek

Fedasil increases the reception capacity for unaccompanied minors. Mid-April 2023, a new center will be set up in the former hotel ‘Lambermont 322’, located along Boulevard Lambermont in Schaerbeek.

This reception centre, directly managed by Fedasil, will provide accommodation for around seventy young people who have arrived in Belgium without a parent. It is a specialized centre, receiving a young, particularly vulnerable public.

The Fedasil team in Schaerbeek will be composed of around 40 people. They will take turns 24 hours a day to supervise the unaccompanied foreign minors. The center can also count on the support of an experienced team from the Fedasil center in Neder-over-Heembeek.

The duration of the stay of the minors in the center will be limited in time, depending on their asylum procedure and their majority. During the stay, generally several months, the young people will go to school in the Brussels region, they will receive social, medical and psychological support, and they will be gradually prepared for more autonomy.

The center already has its own Internet page and Facebook page.
