Fedasil is looking for new partners to ensure the reception of resettled refugees

The Agency invites non-profit organizations, NGOs, cities and municipalities to subscribe to a flexible cooperation agreement with a view to establishing unique partnerships.

Each year, the Belgian government sets a quota which determines the number of people to be resettled: in 2023, Belgium pledged to resettle 500 refugees. To respect this commitment, Fedasil wants to set up partnerships with different actors: cities and towns, NGOs, associations... who can take care of the settlement of refugees outside the Fedasil network.

Fedasil offers two types of cooperation. Both have the same objective: to provide reception and support to resettled refugees for one year.

  • On the one hand, a partner can opt for Community Sponsorship, a sponsorship program in which an organization comes to support a group of enthusiastic citizens who have decided to accompany resettled refugees.

  • On the other hand, the partnership can go further: Fedasil encourages associations and municipalities to join a flexible framework to establish unique partnerships: an innovative city cooperates with an experienced CPAS, a young ASBL joins a committed municipality, a motivated NGO - with a multidisciplinary team - is committed alone to the project...

For more information on the community sponsorship as well as on the partnerships, please visit this page and read the brochures (in French or Dutch) attached below. You can also send an email to resettlement@fedasil.be

The Fedasil resettlement team also offers potential partners a webinar on 18 and 19 April 2023.
