Evening Lecture & Debate: Migration and Detention in Europe
The University Centre Sint-Ignatius Antwerp (UCSIA) organizes a lecture- and debate-evening in cooperation with the University of Antwerp.
Lectures and discussion will be held in English.
Immigration to Belgium is getting more diverse in many aspects and this has already consequences for the socio-economic, cultural, religious and political life in the country. With the focus on this case study, Christiane Timmermann (CeMIS) will speak in her lecture about new developments in European Migration Policy.
Philip Amaral (Jesuit Refugee Service Europe) will speak in his lecture about the detention of migrants in the European Union. The Jesuit Refugee Service has recently published a report about the detention of migrants in 21 member states of the European Union.
