EMN Swedish Presidency Conference: Displacement and migration related to disasters, climate change and environmental degradation

This Conference will explore the impact of climate change on global migration patterns. It also aims at discussing what could be done in the future to address the impacts of climate change on displacement and migration, both in terms of foreign and development policies and in relation to policy frameworks for migration.

What

While the exact impacts of climate change on migration are still not known, there has been mounting attention on in-country and cross-border displacement that is disproportionately impacting people in vulnerable situations, and this is projected to continue on a much greater scale.

During the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the EMN Swedish Team organizes a conference that will bring together a broad range of international experts on climate change and migration from different fields to assess the current situation and explore new strategies at EU and national levels.

When

The conference is scheduled for 11 (full day) and 12 (half day) of May 2023.

Where

The Conference will take place in Stockholm.
