EMN Luxembourg Conference: Mental health and well-being of front-line (reception) workers

In their jobs, front-line workers sometimes have to deal with the trauma of applicants for international protection and are confronted with conflicts, tensions and sometimes personal safety risks. Hence, they are exposed to a high risk of personal stress levels and burnout, moral injury, depression, trauma, and other mental health challenges. This conference aims to bring together stakeholders at national and EU level to share experiences, challenges and practical solutions in this field.

What

Frontline workers (interpreters, educators, social workers, medical workers, cleaning personnel, cultural mediators, security staff, police officers etc.), who provide support for applicants for international protection (AIPs), beneficiaries of international protection (BIPs), beneficiaries of temporary protection (BoTPs) as well as other persons with migratory background are likely to be confronted with extensive job demands that can have impact on their own mental health and well-being. This question of mental health and well-being of (reception) staff will be at the centre of this conference, counting on contributions inter alia from the European Union Asylum Agency and on practical activities allowing for discussions in smaller groups.

When

On 2 October 2024.

Where
