The Temporary Protection Directive, which was adopted following the conflicts in former Yugoslavia, was triggered for the first time by the Council of the EU in response to the unprecedented Russia's invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 to offer quick and effective assistance to people fleeing the war in Ukraine. The EMN joint national conference in Cyprus gave EMN Member and Observer States the opportunity to share the experiences they gained while applying the Temporary Protection Directive, synthesize lessons learned, and discuss ways to move forward.

Parallel to this event, participating countries also got the opportunity to test the educational learning tool "Destination Europe", an interactive and immersive experience into European migration policy.
