EMN Germany Conference: Family Reunification – between Human Rights and Migration Management
The event will bring together experts from Germany and across Europe to discuss recent developments in family reunification. Debates will address the tension between safeguarding fundamental rights and meeting the requirements of migration management. Participants will explore how these priorities can be reconciled in practice through national and European approaches.
What
The conference will bring together experts from Germany and other European Member States to discuss developments in family reunification. Through keynote addresses and panel discussions, participants will reflect on the relationship between legal obligations, human rights guarantees and the requirements of migration management. The event will also present the (soon-to-be-published) study conducted by the European Migration Network (EMN) on "Family reunification of third-country nationals: state of play after 20 years of implementation of the Family Reunification directive".
The event will provide a forum to exchange experiences and perspectives from different national contexts. Discussions will focus on challenges, current practices and future directions, with the aim of exploring how fundamental rights and migration policy considerations can be balanced.
