EMN Asylum and Migration Overview (AMO) 2024 Launch Event

During this online event, the European Migration Network (EMN) will present the 2024 Asylum and Migration Overview (AMO). This comprehensive publication provides a clear overview of the main trends and developments in migration and asylum across EMN Member and Observer countries in 2024. Additionally, a new interactive format will be introduced to enhance the accessibility of the information for a broader audience. Participants will gain insight into the key policy changes and challenges that shaped migration and asylum in Europe over the past year.

What

Each year, the European Migration Network (EMN) collects objective and reliable information on key developments across all areas of asylum and migration in its Member and Observer countries. This data is compiled in an annual report, now titled the "Asylum and Migration Overview" (AMO). The publication is launched at a dedicated event aimed at informing a wide range of relevant stakeholders.

The 2024 edition of the Asylum and Migration Overview will be published soon. To mark its release, an online event will take place on 9 July 2025. This event will highlight the main findings of the 2024 report, covering legal and policy developments across twelve thematic areas—including legal migration, international protection, Schengen, integration, irregular migration, as well as return and readmission—for the period from January to December 2024.

EU-level statistical trends will be presented by Eurostat, while national perspectives will provide in-depth insights into developments specific to certain countries. The event will also unveil a new interactive format designed to enhance the accessibility and user experience of the key findings and data.

This event is intended for policymakers, experts, civil society representatives, academics, and anyone interested in migration and asylum issues in Europe.
