CGRS publishes data on asylum applications for August 2011

Every month, the Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons publishes a document containing the statistics on the asylum applications and the decisions taken.

The number of asylum applications, the principal nationalities involved, the number and nature of the decisions, as well as the evolution of the workload can be consulted in the monthly statistics document.

In August 2011, 2.149 asylum applications were registered by the CGRS compared to 1919 in July.  the top five countries of origin were Afghanistan (9,2%), Iraq (9,1%), Guinee (7,4%), Russia (6,9%) and Kosovo (5,4%).

The CGRS took 1.394 asylum decissions in August 2011; 252 persons received the refugee status and 110 decissions were taken granting subsidiary protection.
