CEMIS Seminar: Migration and Refugee Movements after the Arab Awakening

This seminar will examine recent developments concerning migratory flows from and towards Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt and Syria.

What?

The Centre for Migration and Intercultural Studies (CEMIS) of the University of Antwerp organizes a seminar entitled "Migration and Refugee Movements after the Arab Awakening," presented by Professor Ibrahim Awad.

Dr. Ibrahim Awad will present geographic, economic and political factors that determine the directions of flows and the answers that were given to their economic, humanitarian and political consequences. He will examine the countries that were at the origin of flows, those to destination and Tunisia that was at both ends. He will explain in more detail how the majority of population movements remained within the Arab Mediterranean Region while Europe appeared largely unaffected.
