The Belgian Federal Police contributes to an international operation against a major child sexual exploitation platform
An unprecedented international law enforcement operation has led to the dismantling of Kidflix, one of the world’s largest child sexual exploitation platforms. With the support of Europol, authorities from over 35 countries – including Belgium – coordinated efforts to shut down the site and identify the perpetrators. The platform had nearly two million registered users and facilitated the distribution of vast amounts of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Created in 2021, Kidflix became one of the most active hubs for online child sexual exploitation. Between April 2022 and March 2025, the platform registered 1.8 million users and hosted over 91.000 unique CSAM videos, many previously unknown to law enforcement. At the time of the takedown, the server – seized by German and Dutch authorities on 11 March 2025 – contained approximately 72.000 videos. The platform’s scale and technical sophistication made it one of the most dangerous of its kind.
The investigation into the Kidflix platform was launched in 2022 and mobilised law enforcement authorities across the globe. Coordinated action weeks took place between 10 and 23 March 2025, under the framework of Operation Stream. As a result, 1.393 suspects were identified and 79 individuals were arrested for their involvement in the production, distribution or possession of CSAM. More than 3.000 electronic devices were seized, and 39 children were safeguarded. Europol provided support throughout the operation, including the analysis of video material, cross-checking of data, and coordination between participating countries.
Belgium, which has long warned about the exponential rise in online child sexual exploitation, played an active role in this coordinated response through the involvement of the Belgian Federal Police. Belgian authorities have repeatedly highlighted the challenges posed by the digital dimension of this crime, which allows offenders to act across borders with increased anonymity and scale. The dismantling of Kidflix reinforces the importance of continued international cooperation to tackle such offences effectively.
