2024 Odysseus Summer School on "EU Migration and Asylum Law and Policy" (2 weeks)
In July 2024, the Odysseus Network for Legal Studies on Migration and Asylum in Europe organises the 24th edition of its yearly summer school. The summer school focuses on the European immigration and asylum policies from a legal perspective, including the latest developments in 2024. A special emphasis is on the adoption of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum.
What
The summer school provides participants with a general knowledge of EU Migration and Asylum Law. A special focus is given to the instruments under the New Migration & Asylum Pact. Courses and debates include both theory and practical activities, and cover the issues of screening, Dublin and solidarity between Member States, asylum procedures, Eurodac, crisis, force majeure and instrumentalisation, reception conditions, qualification & asylum agency, accountability of Frontex, scope of application of human rights, law of the sea and migration, artificial intelligence and algorithms. In addition to classes, participants will also have the opportunity to build their professional network.
The courses and debates are led by academic experts and practitioners from EU institutions. The summer school is open for students, NGO’s, PhD students, trainees, professionals, refugees and other profiles. It is also highly valued by employers.
