SVR Conference: Integration and naturalisation of refugees and migrants: Agency, bureaucracy, and policy change (2 days)

This conference, organised by the scientific staff of The Expert Council on Integration and Migration (SVR), will center on the integration processes of refugees and socially disadvantaged migrants, access to citizenship, and the impact of naturalisation on integration. It will also analyse the way different administrations organise and manage the integration and naturalisation processes, particularly for refugees.

What:

The conference, that is organised as part of the research project “Naturalisation as an ‘integration booster’ for refugees” (“Einbürgerung als ‘Integrationsbooster’ für Geflüchtete”), focuses on the following topics:

  • The integration processes of refugees and socially disadvantaged migrants
  • Access to citizenship 
  • The impact of naturalisation on integration
  • The way different administrations organise and manage the integration and naturalisation process

The conference will be held by Scientific staff with the aim of bringing together researchers from various disciplines and academic levels to present and discuss their current qualitative and quantitative research. The conference will be also open to a wider audience from academia, policy and practice, with a limited number of places available.

When:

On 13 (from 9h00 to 19h30) and 14 November (from 10h30 to 17h30) 2025.

Where:

The conference will take place in Berlin at the Projekt Zentrum Berlin (PZB) (Neue Promenade 6, 10178 Berlin).
