OPPORTUNITIES Final Conference: Voices of and on migration
This conference will highlight the findings from the European research project OPPORTUNITIES. Four years of research will be brought to the stage on how narratives on migration develop, how (social) media spread such narratives, how Europeans relate to migration and how, in practice, an equal dialogue is possible.
What
OPPORTUNITIES is a European research project that brings together eight European partners from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Romania, as well as three African partners from Ghana, Senegal, and Mauritania. It aims, inter alia, to establish a fair dialogue in cross-cultural encounters between migrants, citizens, and stakeholders, encouraging them to listen to each other and to create shared narratives of migration.
Beyond that, OPPORTUNITIES aims to study the narrative landscape of migration discourse and to upscale the idea of new narratives of opportunities that are based on a fair dialogue on migration and integration from local to national and European levels.
During this final conference, participants will learn more about the results of this research project, particularly on how narratives develop, what is the power of (social) media in creating stories about and from migrants, what is the voice of Africa within European stories, what can culture do with migrants' stories and how to create an equal dialogue.
When
On 31 January 2025 from 9:30 until 16:00.
