Odysseus Conference on "Post-Stockholm" Guidelines for the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice
A first assessment of the strategic guidelines of the EU Council for the planning in the area of freedom, security and justice. After the programmes of The Hague and Stockholm, the new guidelines are important for the development of the Immigration and Asylum policies of the EU.
What?
The aim of the conference is to provide right after their adoption at a moment when freedom of movement and Schengen are challenged, a first analysis of their content regarding policies on visas, borders, immigration and asylum. It is generally considered that these guidelines had to be different from the previous programmes and to focus on implementation and evaluation of existing rules rather then putting new initiatives on the political agenda.
